Week A Workshops
Wednesday, July 31: Circus as a Verb and Its Relationship to Aerial Dance – Workshop (All levels) with Issac Endo
Contemporary circus inhabits a genre notoriously slippery to define. Is it dance? Is it theatre? Is it art? It is all of those and an underlying curiosity runs through it that would be unique to the form, except this curiosity is also core to the philosophy of Aerial Dance. What is contemporary circus? What is aerial dance? Why were the terms separated and what might make them similar? Through conversation, demonstration, and participation, we will illustrate the curiosity that drives them both. Non-strenuous movement participation, recommended bring a laptop/tablet/phone and clothes for moving
Thursday, August 1: Choreographic Games – Workshop (All levels) with Issac Endo
Building upon, but not requiring attendance of the Circus as a Verb workshop, we will focus on a range of choreographic games. These games foster the curiosity central to Contemporary Circusing and Aerial Dance. Through participatory structures, we’ll explore the potential that curiosity fosters. Non-strenuous movement participation, recommended: bring a laptop/tablet/phone and clothes for moving

Explore basic floorwork and chair tricks that are sure to spice up any choreography, class, or bedroom! Midnite is Miss Exotic World Queen of Burlesque 2014 and strives to provide a safer, welcoming space to come as you are and laugh along the way! This sultry seated journey is for all levels and experiences. Get ready to play, get silly, and werk it out! Suggestion to bring your own chair (something sturdy with a back and no arms) –
