Support during Covid-19

Frequent Flyers’ programs touch so many lives. Our community classes teach students of all ages and abilities to fly. We bring professional performances into the community, even during COVID, making Boulder’s performing art scene interesting and bold. Through our Kids who Fly program and as a member of PlayPass, we make sure we can reach every child that wants to find their wings, not just those whose families can afford it.

On top of all of that, the feeling of sanctuary that Frequent Flyers provides to our students is more important than ever in this crazy time. No matter what noise and strife the outside world is hurling at you, everyone who walks into our studios and spaces, is safe to be themselves. They can take risks and find a little something they didn’t know they have.

COVID slammed our doors shut in March, but we have been carefully and safely reopening. We cannot operate or perform at full capacity, however, for months to come. For 32 years, we have been a cornerstone of Boulder’s art landscape and it is essential that we are here for another 32. I am asking you to support us now and be a part of our future too.

Your support helps sustain our operations, pays teachers and performers, and provides scholarships for those you cannot afford to pay.

A new provision by the IRS is an ‘above-the-line’ or universal charitable giving incentive for contributions made in 2020 of up to $300. This will now allow all non-itemizer taxpayers to deduct charitable contributions from their tax return, an incentive previously unavailable. Additionally, the stimulus legislation lifts the existing cap on annual contributions for itemizers from 60% of adjusted gross income to 100% for contributions made in 2020.

Ongoing Support

Help ensure our promising future. We rely on the support of individuals, corporations, and foundations to bring you the breadth and depth of aerial dance programming, education and outreach that is unparalleled in the nation.

We are committed to keeping our tuition and ticket prices affordable for as many people as possible, which means that they do not actually cover all the costs involved in our productions, classes or outreach programs. Each year, we rely on contributed revenue, to help bridge the gap between earned revenue and our actual operating costs.

Please consider funding one of our important programmatic elements:

Kids Who Fly:

– Residency at one of our schools:$1,500
– Summer Camp Scholarship: $350

Our Kids Who Fly program takes aerial dance into public schools in Boulder and Denver, as well as our studio, where we get them into the air—flying! Their attendance in the program is made possible through scholarships. Our goal is to reach more students across a broader range of ages and grades, and to offer these programs for more weeks of the year. Learn More

Professional Company:
– Sponsor a dancer for a year (rehearsals, performances, and costumes): $5,000
– One dancer’s fee for rehearsals and show: $1,000
– Costumes for one dancer: $500

Our Professional Company continually develops new aerial dance pieces and performs for thousands of people each year. The community who attends the shows are from all walks of life, drawn there to be lifted up by the art of aerial dance. This coming year, the Professional Company will present three shows in Boulder and perform Appalachian Spring in Rochester, NY (last seen at the Kennedy Ctr. in Washington DC.). Our need is for artists’ fees and updated fabulous costumes for all our shows. Learn More

Community classes:
– Semester scholarships for youth who cannot afford full tuition: $500
– one-week session: $350

– Equipment:

– Aerial Fabric: $150
– Lyra: $350
– Corde Lisse (Rope): $300
– Static Trapeze: $450
– Low Flying Trapeze: $500

Classes, from beginner through intensive training, are available to youth and adults at our two studios in Boulder. Instructors empower students, building their strength and knowledge while also developing confidence that they take with them out of the studio and into the world. Significant growth in our student body has increased the need for additional equipment and support staff. Learn More

Aerial Dance Festival:

One Artist’s Fee for Performance: $1,000
One Scholarship  for 1 class: $175
One Scholarship for 2 classes: $350

The internationally-renowned annual Aerial Dance Festival (ADF) is held in Boulder for two weeks each summer, and presents classes, gatherings, and performances by some of the most respected names in aerial dance. This is a colossal undertaking, and one which we could not do without a strong network of staff, donors, and volunteers. Our greatest area of need is support for artists’ fees. Learn More

Terry Sendgraff Scholarship

Donations in honor of Terry Sendgraff, the mother of aerial dance. Her legacy lives on in Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance and we trace our lineage to her work.

The Scholarship in Terry’s name will fund scholarships for the international Aerial Dance Festival, held annually in Boulder, Colorado each July / August. Terry was instrumental in the development of the Aerial Dance Festival, having attended the first one in 1999 and continuing to teach and create performance pieces for several more ADFs.

Make a donation to the Terry Sendgraff scholarship.

Student Company:
– Student Company member semester scholarship: $1,000
– Costumes for all Student Company members for a semester: $1,500

The Frequent Flyers® Student Company is a supportive community fostering creative aerial dance performance opportunities while empowering the individual to embody confidence in their artistic and technical abilities. Embedded in a safe, supportive, non-competitive environment, students can soar in their artistic expression, connecting the ground and the air. Learn More
