This workshop is good for those who are new to sling as well as those who have extensive experience on the apparatus but wish to better understand it in order to create their own unique material. In this 90-minute workshop we will examine the major fundamental relationships on sling and how they relate to one another through various examples. We will discuss orientation, construction and manipulation of the apparatus. The organization and thorough understanding of these simple elements is the foundation of creative choreography.
Ages 13+. No equipment needed: lecture/demo style.
Sling Theory – 3 Part Mini Master Class – Beginner / Intermediate

This workshop is good for those who are new to sling, but have experience on either fabric, trapeze or similar, as well as those who have extensive experience on the apparatus but wish to better understand it in order to create or organize their own unique material. In this three-part series, we will delve deeply into how the major and minor relationships on the sling relate to one another through various examples. We will discuss orientation, construction and manipulation of the apparatus. The organization and thorough understanding of these many elements is the foundation of creative choreography.

Triangles and Zig Zags on Sling – Intermediate / Advanced

Prerequisites: Ages 14+. Some experience on sling or aerial fabric is needed.
Welcome to the shape factory! In this intermediate/advanced level workshop we will construct both simple and complex angles making triangles and overlapping zig zags on the aerial sling. We will discuss theory, tension maintenance, body placement, technique and applications. Learn how you can easily create complexity with this highly adaptable apparatus. No equipment needed: lecture/demo style.

Jenn Bruyer lives in the rugged West Kootenay area of Southern British Columbia with her partner and their horses, dogs, goats, ducks and chickens. She has been immersed in aerial arts since 2008, and is driven by her love of understanding and sharing fabric, sling and trapeze [of all sorts]. She also enjoys exploring cord lisse, cloud swing, lyra, net, rope & harness and anything else someone puts in front of her.
