Meet the Glenn P. Davis Scholarship recipient for ADF 2018

March 27, 2018 Laura

Congratulations to Nicki Miller, the Glenn P. Davis Scholarship recipient for Aerial Dance Festival 2018!
Nicki Miller is a New York City based aerial artist, director, choreographer and actor known for her theatrical take on aerial arts. Her work as aerial designer and choreographer was featured in Ripe Time’s The World is Round at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in 2014. Her company Only Child Aerial Theatre presented ASYLUM (of which Nicki is co-author, director and performer) at NYU’s Skirball Center for Performing Arts in 2017. Nicki is a New Victory LabWorks artist with Only Child’s other co-founder Kendall Rileigh (with the New Victory Theatre/New 42nd Street), and was a resident artist of the 2016 Santa Barbara Floor to Air Festival, the 2016 Circus Sessions at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre, and in 2017 with Cirkus Cirkör in Sweden. While in Sweden, she assisted Cirkör’s director Olle Strandberg on the premiere of his show Under. She also spent August 2017 assisting and observing projects at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Shakespeare’s Globe and with Frantic Assembly in London. In November 2017 Nicki returned to London to participate as a selected artist in a 4 day advanced training and performance with Frantic Assembly.
She is also an educator of aerial rope and silks, aerial theatre methodologies, and general movement health (certified Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist). Currently Nicki is performing solo work in NYC and collaborating with The D’amby Project and Hudson Valley Circus Arts in upstate New York on various education and performance projects. She is a graduate of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
About the Glenn P. Davis Scholarship: Glenn Davis was a founding member of Frequent Flyers, who had the brilliant idea that we start an Aerial Dance Festival, way back in 1999. After his untimely passing, Glenn’s beautiful family created this scholarship in his memory. We are eternally grateful to Glenn and his family.
Learn more about how you can attend classes or see a show at our 20th anniversary Aerial Dance Festival, July 29-August 11, 2018.
