Flight Collaborative presents SciDance with Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance at the CU ATLAS Black Box Theater, 7:30pm Oct. 27 and 28, 2017. Free admission!
A collaboration between scientists and aerial dancers, SciDance is a cerebral and kinesthetic meditation on earth system processes. With choreography from Flight Collaborative (www.flightcollaborative.com) and Frequent Flyers® Aerial Dance (https://frequentflyers.org/), aerial dancers transform the work of female CU Boulder scientists in the focal areas of forest, ice, and fire into an immersive textural landscape. Technology and artistic practice are melded to alter the physical performance space, compelling us to reflect on our own place among these Earth elements. SciDance is an experience that is wholly different from either listening to a scientific lecture or seeing an abstract dance performance. Hard science is translated into the tenderly sensual, the ferociously cruel, and the arrestingly ethereal nature of Nature. Scientists: Megan Cattau (fire), Chelsea Nagy (forest), Valerie Morris (ice). Dancers: Laura Burgamy, Megan Cattau, Mandy Hackman, Jessie Loisel, Valerie Morris, Alysha Perrin, April Skelton, Nancy Smith.
